Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve spreads across roughly 1,727 km² of central Indian highland — teak, bamboo and crystalline lakes named for the tribal god Taru. Declared a national park in 1955 and a tiger reserve in 1995, it is the beating wild heart of Maharashtra.

Tadoba's tigers are famous personalities — Maya, Matkasur and their lineages — and its open terrain gifts visitors some of the most dependable big-cat sightings anywhere in India, alongside dhole, sloth bear and gaur.

Tadoba splits into a strictly protected core zone and a more flexible surrounding buffer, entered through gates like Moharli and Kolara that each carry their own permit and character. The buffer, often underrated, sees fewer vehicles and regularly delivers sightings to rival the core — worth booking alongside a core-zone drive rather than skipping in favour of it.
